Music from the early 2000s was all about fun and parties and having a good time, not picking the oatmeal off the shelf with the most daily fiber. The new millennium was a flashy era, derived from our need for maximalism and the necessity of change.
And as we photo-dumped our entire lives on Myspace, starting drama with our Top 8 and the song selection on our home page, the world around us was forever changed by the Internet. Shining brighter than the rhinestones on our bedazzled jeans and bigger than our sunglasses could ever be, the Internet changed everything.
However, we can still dream of a time in between the analog and the constant connection—a time where you could download a song (and a virus) on Limewire and burn a CD in the same day. Our mixtapes were fire, our jeans were skinny, and according to the radio, every day we were shuffling.
